What Is ENT?
An ENT physician, or Otolaryngologist, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of problems involving the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT). The ENT specialty encompasses the treatment of allergic, sinus, laryngeal, thyroid and esophageal disorders, surgery of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck, management of patients with loss of hearing and balance, endoscopic examination of air and food passages and facial plastic and reconstruction surgery. To qualify for the American Board of Otolaryngology certification examination, a physician must complete five or more years of post-MD (or DO) specialty training.

The ENT and Sinus Center offers an array of new surgical technologies for the treatment of sinusitis. The most recent advance is the development of computer-guided sinus surgery. Via a computer workstation in the operating room, surgeons can now access 3-dimensional CT scan images of a patient's sinuses during surgery. This interactive surgical device allows identification of critical anatomic structures and treatment of diseased areas for the patient with complex sinus disease. The Center's professional staff also specializes in treating ear diseases, hearing loss, dizziness and balance problems.
